Travelling by Highspeed Train or MRT requiers strict discipline. If you stand on the red arrow, passengers can quickly leave the train in the middle of the doors while new passengers enter on both sides of the leaving passengers. Even with a big suitcase it works :-)

Again an amazing dinner event; a traditional Taiwanese "Hot pot"; chop stick skills heavily tested, yet improving. Next test will be eating 100 peanuts with chop sticks!
 
 
Monday February 14th 2011
This Valentines' day was spent on prepartion of the school visits and web work.
Yet after Sunset we explored nightly Kaohsiung, where streets and shops are fully illuminated.

The Chinese New Year is celebrated with an exibition of handmade, life size lanterns, made by students and reflecting in 2011 the "Year of the Rabbit". Hundreds of very creative, nicely decorated and illuminated dolls / lanterns create a Fairy tale atmosphere.

At 9 pm thousands of people saw a beautiful firework on the river.
The reflections in the high glass covered buildings made it explosions of light even more intense.

Thursday February 17th 2011

The day started with an unexpected visit to the Jhengsin Junior High School in Kaohsiung, the fourth participating school from taiwan in the GTP / iEARN Eco Friendly Schools Project.

Second visit for the morning was scheduled for the National Science and technology Museum, the lagerst Science Museum in Asia. Together with Prof. Mei-chen Chang and Dr. Chu we explored how the Museum could support the schools in the EFS project while working on the "Eco challenges".
Also there seems to be a good opportunity for the students present at the iEARN 15th Youth Summit in Kaohsiug in July 2011 to present hteir work and findings to make school more Eco friendly.

Friday February 18th 2011
When I left the hotel in the morning there were special prayers to ask the Gods to bring good bussiness. The boss and employers offer food, flowers that are put outside of their business building.

The first visit of the day was to the Kaohsiung Commercial High School, where I met with Principal David Hui-Cheng Chang. His school hosted the 2010 iEARN Taiwan Winter camp.
 
 

Principal David showed us the new remodelled Library which opened in February 2011.
An excellent place for students, teachers and citizens to study and find resources.

At the end of the short tour we were offered a tea ceremony by the Librarian Mr. Xu Xianren.
A toast to friends meeting again!

 
 
Next stop at the temple in Zonta Tin Liu Village.

Tianliao on the north side of the Kaohsiung area Zonta Tin Liu Village is also called "Moon World Scape".
 
 
 
 
Mino village organises a flower show every year during the month of February.
