Report by Icecream: Rebecca, Kim, Steven, Robbert-Jan, Gert

Our day began with the Canadian national anthem. When the song was ended we went to the kindergarten with the Dutch participants. There we talked about our first days in Canada. The reactions were all positive, we also talked about the striking things in Canada (like the big cars and houses). The talk lasted 15 minutes in Dutch of course. After our talk we went to a school tour.

There we saw all different kinds of classrooms and teachers. The students were all dressed in red and white clothes. In 6th grade all kids wearing ubmrella heads, that was really funny. We also saw a lot of Canadian flags and there was a poster that says: “Welcome friends of the Netherlands.” When the tour was ended we went to the library. There we had first a talk of Mr. Hofman about the expectations for the coming week. After that we sort al the sub groups and we brainstormed about our subjects. When we were ready with that we went to the computer and worked our ideas out. At 11:45 AM we went lunching. When we get back we had the whole afternoon for our project. After a time Ellewies and I (Robbert-Jan) needed photo’s, so we went trough the school. In the gym, we were invited for a ball hockey game, we just couldn’t say no. It was really fun to play against the other Canadian students. We played for a half hour. After the match we got a brooch with the Canadian flag on it. The canadians found it also quite amusing. At the little break the dutch participans went outside, there all the Canadian students were asking questions to us. There was also a group who tried to ask questions in dutch (they had it written down). At 3:30 PM the school was out and all the Dutch participants went home to their Canadian friends.
